Coffee Filter Flowers

Ok~I am going to attempt a tutorial!  I hope I don't confuse anyone with all my "technical" terms.....

Step one.....Raid your pantry and find coffee filters....I had to look because hold your breath.....I don't drink coffee!  Give me a Dr. Pepper, tea (hot or cold) or water.  They were of course on the top shelf because
 a. Mr. Smith drinks coffee
b.His favorite coffee pot died.
c. Mr. Smith can reach the top shelf in the pantry.

Ok back to the coffee filter....Oh yes I had to climb the ladder....Mr. Smith came to help when he saw that I was on the ladder.....

Focus...

Step two....Grab the center of the coffee filter and squish, smash together.

Step three....Get a big needle and poke it throught the squished part.

Step four....Shove needle and thread (think I forgot to mention threading the needle in step 3) through each  coffee filter until you have a string of smashed, squished filters (I used 10 for the large filters and 8 for the small ones).

Step five.....Shove that needle and thread through a couple of times and tie it off(you know with a knot).

Step six....Proceed to fluff, smoosh, puff out each coffee filter.

Step seven...Make more flowers.

Step eight....Heat up your glue gun and find a lump of twine.

Step nine....Glue the string of twine(cut to the desired length) to the back of the flowers. I glued the twine several places on the flower so they would lay right. I also varied the sizes to give a little variety.

Step ten....Hang wherever you like. I made these for my welcome sign on my salvaged door by my front door to greet my visitors for my Open House!  I couldn't get a full length shot because my entry way is pretty narrow!  You'll just have to pretend to see the whole door!

Now I used 2 sizes of coffee filters, one large and one small....I am sure they have a size but I am not going to climb the ladder again....You coffee drinking people should know what I am talking about...Those of you none coffee drinkers~Just work with me~large and small.

For the smaller filters I smooshed and sewed together 8 filters.
For the larger ones I used 10 filters.

Why~I don't know~just sounded like good numbers.

I also just hot glued the twine to the top of the door!

There it is Folks...Go Forth and Be Crafty!

I might just have to make more and decorate inside the house!

Spring is here!

Love all the flowers that are blooming in my backyard.  I thought I would join Susan @ A Southern Day Dreamer's Outdoor Wednesday!

Even Snow is enjoying this beautiful spring weather and she is even wearing a green dress for St. Patrick's Day.  Ah the life of a dog!

Thrifty Finds and Spring Flowers

Ahh Spring is in the air....My flowers are blooming!

Always a pleasant surprise to walk outside and see something else blooming!

I love purple and pink flowers!

Mr. Smith trimmed our blue willow bushes and I thought I would bring some of the trimmings inside. FREE!

My pickle jar that was from my folks-funny story-Mom wanted a jar of pickles when they moved into their new house (5 YEARS AGO) so Dad went to Costco and bought this jar FILLED with sliced  pickles.  It's just the 2 of them.....Needless to say the pickles have finally all been eaten or tossed!

My metal "S" that I bought at a flea market for $5-I actually bought 2 of them-just because!

My other pickle jar that I bought at the thrift store for $1-again there were 2 so of course I bought both of them!

My thrift store purchase while we were in Portland, Oregon visiting my brother and his family.....$2-with an older price tag of $50-FIRM!  Ha, I guess someone didn't ever sell it so donated it to the thrift store!

This Sunday is our 18th Anniversary so.....we are heading to San Francisco for a few days!  Going to do hit some serious thrift stores!  Oh and eat some really yummy food too!

Valentine's Day Treats, Flowers and Babies!!!

Drama Queen's Valentine's Day party is tomorrow at school so we created these.....
Jodi over at Pleasant home made these and they looked so cute!
Go visit her here for the recipe-easy!!!

All wrapped up to give out tomorrow!

Had to add a polka dot ribbon to the basket for more "love"... Plus half the gift is presentation!

Hours and hours I have spent making these flower lapel pins.....need to take this bunch to a local shop in town.  Looks like a bouquet of flowers-don't you think?

My other project was for a customer who wanted these letters for a baby shower!  My Valentine's letter being used for other ideas(man-why didn't I think of that)...Mr. Smith was so kind to cut each letter out for me!

So lots of color going on at The Smith Hotel......Just wish it would feel a little more like Spring outside!!!

Flowers........

I bought a small pack of English Daisies the other day at Home Depot. I was craving sunshine and spring.....neither of which are happening in Northern California......
I realize some people in the US are shoveling snow and trying to keep warm..........
Just thought I would give a little cheer........
Spring will come..............

Until then I have some flowers on my window sill..........................
