Instructions on how to make my Noel Banner......Secret Ninja Stuff!

This is my Top Secret Method on how to make a banner!

If you want fancy, expensive,elaborate....then you are at the wrong place.....if you want cheap, simple, and fast....then you have come to the right place!

Red paper I already had in my paper stash.  The green damask paper I bought at Michaels for 25 cents each.  Ribbon was picked up at Michaels as well.  I think 2 rolls for $2.50  Green tulle I bought the whole bolt at Joann's with my 50% off coupon-I'll be using it forever.
Letters I picked up in the clearance bin at Joann's for 50 cents a pack.  Glitter I bought last year in the dollar bins at Joann's for yep a dollar(5 small tubes of different colored glitter).  Ornament chipboard shapes, Michaels in the dollar bins-pack of 5 for $1.  White tulle, wedding section at Dollar Tree for $1.  White crepe paper(2 pack) at Dollar Tree.  I have also found crepe paper at the thrift store as well(never used) for 50 cents.

So under $5 for the banner.

Ok here comes the Secret Ninja stuff.....I traced the ornaments on the back of the green damask paper and cut them out with scissors.  Repeat 3 more times.

I glued the piece of paper onto the ornament with my Mono adhesive tape-any double sided tape would work-even a glue stick.  Repeat 3 more times.

Punched out the holes in the paper to get the white tulle through.

Used my pastry cutters(I find I use them more to trace circles on paper than I do to cut pastry) to make a circle that was big enough for my letters.

Sorry blurry picture.....was on speaker phone talking to my health insurance company as I was crafting.  Amazing how much I got done in the 20 minutes I was on the phone.  Ugh!

Fan fold the crepe paper-guessing how much will go around the red circle.

Hot glue the crepe paper onto the back of the circles.

Put some glue on the letters and pour green glitter-shake off excess.

Hot glue the ruffle red dots onto the ornament, then hot glue the letters onto the red dot.

I used my white tulle and looped through the holes so the banner could hang.

I cut a strip of lime green shiny tulle into ribbons.  Added the sparkly green ribbon and red gingham ribbon.
Cut the ends so they would all look pretty.

Did 5 bundles and just tied each bundle before, between and after the ornaments onto the white tulle.

There you go!

You can hang this banner from your mantle, a shelf, a cabinet, a window, even in a wreath.

See I told you it would be Secret Ninja Stuff!

Buttermilk-Apple Spice Bread

Found this recipe on Cooks.com.....

I have a plethora (love that word) of pears so naturally I am changing out the apples for the pears.

I peeled and cooked the pears last night.

Kiefer pears need to be cooked.

BUTTERMILK - APPLE SPICE BREAD

4 c. unbleached white flour

2 c. oats

1 c. brown sugar, packed

2 tbsp. baking powder

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. nutmeg

6 lg. apples, pared and chopped (4 to 5 c.)

3 eggs, beaten

2 1/4 c. buttermilk

1/4 c. melted butter or oil

2 tsp. vanilla

Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in large bowl. Add apples and toss to coat. Beat eggs in separate bowl and beat in buttermilk, butter, and vanilla. Pour egg mixture into dry ingredients, mixing until just blended. Spoon batter into 2 greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pans. Bake at 375 degrees 1 hour and 10 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center of loaves comes out clean. Makes 2 loaves.

The loaves are in the oven as I type and this is the best picture I could get!
