Life at The Smith Hotel

Snow has a very important job.
She rides to school everyday and makes sure the kids make it safe.
This is her after dropping off the kids.
It's a hard job.

Mrs. Smith fluffs and decorates her booth.

Making new jewelry, tea towels, and magnets.

Poor Honey, she was naked the other day. Someone had bought the black slip she was wearing.
Mrs. Smith shoved dressed her in a bustier and pink petticoat.
Honey is just a little too full figured for the bustier.

Decorating for Spring.

Adding some British goodies.
Cheerio!

Mr. Smith has been busy at his "weekend job" painting away.
He even started to blog about it.

Go visit him and tell him I sent you!

He has been joining linky parties.

His latest creation....

It's been very busy here getting ready for the Spring shows!

P.S.
Snow is out sunning herself in the garage while Mr. Smith paints.

Some new furniture in my booth!

Mr. Smith is my painter.

After being married for almost 20 years
(this March), we have learned our strengths and weaknesses.
Apparently my weakness is being a bad painter (at least that's what he says).

So I let him paint without my help.

Ok, I may occasionally go out into the garage and check on him.
Maybe throw him the occasional cookie or snack.

Mr. Smith does ask my opinion on the paint color.
Sometimes I throw caution to the wind and come up with some unusual color/furniture combos.  Mr. Smith thinks this is a strength of mine (picking out furniture colors).

So we are adding pops of color to our booth.

I also wanted some things painted grey.

I convinced Mr. Smith to buy a can of Annie Sloan chalk paint in Paris Grey.
Needless to say he fell in love.
With the paint....I wouldn't know how great it is because he wouldn't let me paint anything (not complaining at all).
But I trust his opinion on paint.
He just let me pick out the next few colors (like the Barcelona Orange) when he got over the price of the paint.

He even painted a couple of chairs and recovered the seat in canvas drop cloth.

Next we had a fun curvy dresser that needed some attention.
I thought it would look really good with the union jack painted on it-see so many on blogs and thought we should try it out.
Mr. Smith said he would give it a try.
We had a buyer before he even started painting.

Mr. Smith is still working on it.
I think it is turning out smashing!
Oh, yeah the buyer lives pretty close-like in the same house.
Our son, Boy Wonder decided that he wanted it in his room (he smiled and said it in a half excited voice).
Now he is a teenager and is at the point of his life where he doesn't like anything.
So when he said he wanted it (in a very nice way) he was going to get it.
Plus it works right into his bedroom redo for this summer(needed to update his room since he will be going to high school in the fall).

Oh and the best news is ..... we have another dresser that Mr. Smith will be painting the union jack on to sell!
He is already talking about how he can improve on the second one.

Yep, I'm okay with my weaknesses....

Halloween Comes Early To The Booth!

Mr. Smith, my Mom, & I had fun decorating the booth for Halloween last night.

I took pictures today-it was so dark when we finished!

A friend gave me several bags full of old frames that were perfect to use with those fun headless Pottery Barn pictures!
This is the first thing you see as you are climbing the stairs!

Couldn't quite get a good picture of all the sharp tools that I have hanging from the ghost lampshades hanging from the ceiling.

Reading all those murder mystery books have worn off.
How about a trombone case to carry a body in?

Galvanized gas can makes a great vase for branches and a crow!

Doesn't everything look better under glass?

Picked up some silhouettes at Dollar Tree the other day which were perfect to scatter around the booth.

Created this fun picture.
Doesn't she look like a nice lady?

Until you get on her bad side!

I brought in a couple of carloads of new stuff to sell and to decorate with.

Picked up the candelabras at Dollar Tree Store too.

Of course, everyone needs a scale to measure that skull they have lying around!

Happy Decorating!
