Our Shabby, Parisian themed Christmas!!

Yes, if you were wondering what Boy Wonder and Mr. Smith were doing-they are putting up an Eiffel Tower on top of The Smith Hotel Christmas tree.

We avoided the rush on Black Friday but had to venture out yesterday to get some supplies. So as Mr. Smith and the kids waited patiently in the car, I ran inside Michaels. Grabbing what I needed, I thought I would make a quick perusal of the holiday items before standing in the checkout line. Much to my utter delight, this silvery, glittery Eiffel Tower was 40% off. Now I have to backtrack for those of you questioning why I needed an Eiffel Tower.

Here is the conversation between Mr. and Mrs. Smith......

Mrs. Smith-"I want to do a shabby, Parisian theme Christmas this year."

Mr. Smith-"Maybe the lamp (Eiffel Tower) that you got in Portland would work."

Hours later.....

Mrs. Smith-"Can you get the Eiffel Tower lamp on top of the tree?"

Mr. Smith-"No, it is too large-we would need something smaller."

So with that conversation in my mind-what do I find at Michaels but a smaller version of the Eiffel Tower(in silver no less). As I leave the store, I pull out my purchase from the bag and jump up and down in the parking lot as the kids hang out the car windows giving me thumbs up and cheering!!!! Even Mr. Smith is smiling!!!! He was even happier to hear that I got it on sale! What do you have on the top of your Christmas tree?

Back from Portland, OR!!!

Beautiful Mt. Hood from our hotel window. Mr. Smith, Boy Wonder, Drama Queen and I had a great time visiting family in Portland. Busy posting new items to my etsy store-my treasures I found on our trip. Getting geared up for Thanksgiving tomorrow and Christmas decorating the day after. Mr. Smith baked the pies, we are calling it the "PP" year-thanks to Drama Queen's suggestion. Mr. Smith made pumpkin pie, pecan pie and pear pie hence "PP". Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow!!!

I am participating in the Shabby Nest's Frugal Friday Linky Party! Wow I am such a newbie!

I plan on hitting some thrift stores when I am up in Portland, OR this coming week. Can't wait to see what treasures I find! Been busy adding onto my etsy store too! Added these cute sparrows last night-they look shabby, sophisticated, french to me. That is my Christmas theme this year. We will see if I can pull it off! I will post pictures when I get the tree down next week!

Bargain Find!! Frugal Friday Linky Party!

SCORE!!!

Ok I am doing the happy dance in the kitchen. I "cleaned" the house today(for about an hour) then I was off to some thrift stores. At the Salvation Army, I bought for $1 this cute book holder thingamabob. Not sure what it was used for or how old but it reminded of old school days. If anyone out there in blogland knows what it is-let me know. I put a flash card that I made so you can see some possibilities. I could paint it but I am kinda liking the wood color.
First time loading 2 pictures! How did they end up crooked???? Oh well! Just focus on the wooden stand and don't look to close behind it! Some of my other thrifty finds that I need to clean off the counter before Mr. Smith gets home!

Today I went to some thrift stores and I got a bag of birds for $1. I just got the new Martha Stewart magazine and in it they had glittered some birds. Well my bag of birds were all owls-which is fine since I love owls. These are a little freaky though. Trust me when I say that they look much better with glitter. Drama Queen decided we should glitter the ugliest ones first as test models. There are 4 owls in this picture. One is really tiny and didn't show up real well. Once I get them all glittered up, I will let you know what I end up doing with them. Maybe gifts.......Drama Queen did mention that Grandma, aka Mrs. Scott loves birds in her Christmas tree!

Wow, what a busy week. I had my first boutique show Wednesday night and sold 6 tea towels! Not bad for a first timer. Thursday I promised myself that I would clean up the house-since my sewing, craft, etc. is all over the place. Mr. Smith is out of town so I thought it would be a nice surprise but that only lasted (the clean house) yesterday. Today out came the sewing machine again, this time to work on a friend's baby shower on Sunday. So things don't look so different at home. Oh well, tonight I have to sell nuts with my daughter's(aka Drama Queen) brownie troop.

I thought I would show you a picture of my table at the boutique-just ignore the blue bin-we were still setting up. The cute ladder is the gal next to me(also a Smith).

Greetings from TheSmithHotel

Greetings from TheSmithHotel,
Yes, my name really is Mrs. Smith.

And that is about as clever as I can get right now(writer's block or blog block maybe). I have been reading blogs for a few months now and have gained so much inspiration from so many women. So I guess I thought I could add my 2 cents in too.

I love to decorate and I am frugal. Sometimes it makes for an interesting combination but always fun. Mr. Smith is rolling his eyes now. Shopping is my favorite hobby. I decided that I could climb a mountain but there would have to be a mall/thrift sale/garage sale at the top or what would be the point. (I am sure I have already offended some people-Mr. Smith is an avid outdoors/exercise nut). I love to cook and with lots of practice I can say that my food is for the most part edible. I am a stay home mom (but I hardly am at home) with 2 kids. I have been known to pick up kids a little late from school because I was at a store........No children were harmed though. Wow this is already going down hill-true confessions-yeah I am not perfect! I should stop for today or Mr. Smith will ban me from the computer!

Life is an adventure and I am along for the ride!
