Drama Queen's Birthday

Drama Queen's 11th birthday was Friday.

We baked cupcakes and a cake....

Ate at Olive Garden for her birthday dinner....

She bought a parakeet and everything that goes with it....

She spent the weekend with her hand in the cage training him.
His name is Theodore Lincoln Smith, Teddy or Theo for short.

She had to earn the bird - an agreement she struck with her father while I was out of town.

Poor Snow is trying to figure out why Drama Queen has been neglecting her.

Haunted Mansion Style

Been busy with shows so my house was feeling a little neglected.
Took down the summer stuff off the mantle.  Started decorating the mantle then it ended up spilling onto the TV cabinet.
There was some screaming involved when I had Boy Wonder help me heft the large mirror.  Drama Queen screamed "I can't look!"
 While I screamed "I can't drop it!"
I don't normally decorate scary at home but I dug around my piles of goodies and well my (over active~I read way too many mystery books) mind just went wild!

And yes, the kids did think it was too scary.  Probably didn't help that I bought a scary CD to play too!
Muh ha ha ha!

How to make an outdoor buffet table out of salvaged items

Mr. Smith and I have been collecting items for the past year to make an outside buffet table.
Old door, chippy wrought iron pieces, bed rails, and a couple of pieces of new steel beams -all came together the other day.

We put this very heavy table under the kitchen window.
We plan on putting wood slates on the bed rails so I can put my flower pots on the second shelf.

Great location next to the BBQ.
I've always dreamed of having an outdoor kitchen.
Maybe one day we will find an old sink and install it into the buffet table.
Can't wait to use the new buffet table for Father's Day!

Dog days of summer.....I wonder where they got that phrase?

Since my door is white and Snow White is white-I'll be joining Kathleen for White Wednesday!

A Very Simple Christmas

As I mentioned before this will be a very simple Christmas for us.

I mean really simple.

Wrapped the gifts today.

Ah yes the stockings....I know not a "perfect" shot of lovely stockings....Nope just stockings that are hanging kinda of funky.

I added the candle canes for a little color.

Best thing about those candy canes....I found them in the garage in a bag probably from last year after Christmas sales...I love "shopping" my garage.

Added some red and white ribbon to the candles.

My stocking hanger that I had custom made for us years ago.

This is my newest addition which my Mom bought for me this year.

Isn't he cute?

Excuse the lumpy mess of a couch...Snow's favorite perch is on the back corner of the couch.

I even wrapped the couch and chair in my pieces of quilt. Only this time I flipped it to the green and white ticking side.

Yes, even Snow matches the Christmas decor this year!

Urgent: Please address this issue immediately!

Dear The Smith Hotel Management,

It has come to our attention that one of our guests is not following the standard protocol.  Every other guest is required to make sure their personal items are kept tidy.  This guest has blatantly ignored the standard procedure.

This guest also continues to shed large amounts of white hair and leaves their personal items laying around the entire Hotel.  In fact, this guest acts as if she is in charge.  We fear that a revolt might occur among the other guests when they see this guest blatantly refuse to abide by the rules that make cohabitation harmonious.

Being a Princess should not give this guest the right to "Piddle" on the carpet while the other guests would receive sever punishment.   The staff is also tired of having to get a special treat for this guest every morning when she awakens.

The Smith Hotel prides itself in being a "safe" environment for all but feels that this guest would "attack" a new arrival.    She has already bitten her Doctors on more than one occasion.

We took the liberty of including some photos of the guest in question.

While the other guests can not "sit" on the back of the couch and chair.  She ignores this rule.  We were not trying to hide the fact that we were taking a picture of her while violating this rule.  In fact, she stayed in this position the whole time while house keeping was cleaning this area.  She offered no help at all.

Obviously this guest has no fear of authority as she actually posed for this close up.

Please note that if these issues are not addressed soon, the paying guests will protest the favoritism shown to this guest.

Sincerely,

The Hired Help
