School is almost out for the Summer!

Here are my 2 lovely kiddos, Snow White and moi ~ taken on Mother's Day (it was a good hair and makeup day)!

4 more days of getting up too early and slapping the kids on the backside to get out of bed school.

It has been wet and cold here in Redding, CA-unusual for this time of year and it makes me want to hibernate!

I can't wait to sleep in!  Oh wait~ I don't think I will be able to anytime soon.  Swim lessons start the week after school gets out (what was I thinking when I signed up), getting packed and ready to be a vendor at the Lewiston Peddlers' Faire on June 5th (no sleeping in that day for sure).

Maybe by the 1st of July I will be able to sleep in?

Or maybe if the sun came out and it warmed up a little I might not feel like sleeping so much (or at least get to take a little nap outside).

Summer is almost here-why am I still cold?

Redding Rodeo!!!

Last weekend was the Redding Rodeo!
Mr. Smith now works for a leather company based in Texas so we "blinged" ourselves up with his samples!

I would show you what the rest of the family-my folks included-wore to the rodeo but the only pictures I have of the rest of them are when they are shoving eating hot dogs, pizza and kettlecorn!  Trust me when I say we looked good!

Yes, You Too Can Be A Jedi Master! Or At Least A Thrifty One!

Here it is.....I grabbed it the other day at the thrift store....Don't hate me because I am cheap thrifty.

It's 2 pieces and I was trying to figure out how to take the top off....

Please advert your eyes from the '65 VW Bus that Mr. Smith sewed a lovely cover for out of old sheets.

What is that?  A price tag?  From Restoration Hardware (clue people the nearest one is almost 4 hours away-just saying).

What??? Another price tag????? Restoration Hardware again?

Amazing because I only paid.....

For both!  I told you that I am a Master!

That's right $9.99!

Sometimes I amaze myself-just being honest people!

If you frequent thrift stores and garage sales like I do (all the time-the thrift store workers know my name and I know theirs)- you too can pick up a good deal-that is unless I have already been there!

Wait-Please don't go!  I promise I won't find another great steal deal anytime soon-ok I lied I will probably find something great next week too!

Kitchen Reveal~Finally!

It's funny when you speak to people in the real world and they are also part of blogland....I forget what I told them where and when....like my kitchen redo-some saw it in real life while others are still waiting to see it in blogland.....
This is the dresser that Mr. Smith painted and shabbied it up.....It was going to our booth but since we are crammed full I plan on using it to hold all my office/craft/shipping supplies.  Plus it's a little sturdier than the little table I had the printer on before!
My Ikea bookcase that I made burlap curtains for and used a $1 thrift store tension rod.

These are my new rugs that I bought at Joann's for 1/2 price- $25 total.

My tablecloth is a drop cloth from Home Depot.  I plan on using it other places and for other projects but for now it's my long flowing table cloth.
This is my urn (the kiddos call it a bird bath) that I bought in Oregon last year and used on the coffee table at Christmas time.  I just threw in lots of white candles that I had and sea shells!

The faux roman shades I made out of burlap and cotton.  I made the "EAT" sign which you can read about here.

To read more about what my kitchen looked like before you can read these previous posts-here, here, here, here, and here.

Hope you enjoy my Kitchen Makeover!

Oh did I mention how much it cost me?  Don't have the exact number but under $150.00 for the primer, paint, and new accessories (most of which I just found around the house).

Setting up for Mother's Day!

Mr. Smith and I dropped the kiddos off at school and headed over to Oregon Street Antique Mall to add another car load of goodies!  So much so we had to take 2 cars!

\
Mr. Smith had to ask me last night as we were loading the car~"Will this all fit in the booth?"  He really shouldn't ask such obvious questions!

I was going to save my white Madonna statues for Christmas but I thought Mary was a mother too!

Mr. Smith even slashed prices on some items to make more room for MORE goodies!
Happy Friday!
